'I tend to be most interested in the kinds of people who do not sweeten or dilute themselves for the sake of people's tastes. Who never soften the blow of who they really are. Like my coffee, I prefer the people I connect with to be full-strength and searing hot.
Hi there, how's it going?
I’m Elaine, a writer and editor, born in London and currently based in Tasmania, devouring books and coffee like there's no tomorrow. After floating around the internet for a while, I decided to create coffee&books - my eclectic portfolio of words and indulgent home for those o̶b̶s̶e̶s̶s̶i̶o̶n̶s passions. I have a natural attraction for amplifying nuance, so consider me a mixologist of various cultural influences infused with my own irreplaceable self.
My extended interests are in emotional intelligence, personal development, the female experience, modern culture, and the ways in which we can learn from our experiences to become more authentic versions of ourselves. Serendipity and unpredictable opportunities led me down the path of freelance writing, and the rest, as they say, is history (or at the least, digitally documented on these pages),
'If you want to write well, you have to read widely' is advice I take seriously. Over the past year, I've been focusing on broadening my bookshelves to incorporate more female writers, particularly those from non-western origins. This led me to start The International Book Club.
Now tell me about you.
